Amazing news! Jaime is set to return Lionsgate’s Escape Plan action series, joining the cast of the third installment: Escape Plan 3: Devil’s Station. According to THR, she will reprise the role of the franchise’s female lead, Abigail Ross, who is kidnapped and held in an (almost) impenetrable prison facility.
The release date for Escape Plan 2 has not been announced yet.
Drew Pollins is directing the drama adapted from the book by Pat Moffett.
Jaime King, who starred on four seasons of Hart of Dixie, has joined the cast of Ice Cream in the Cupboard, an indie drama adapted from the book by Pat Moffett.
Drew Pollins is directing the project, which hails from Serenity Media Group and is shooting in Los Angeles. Serenity’s CEO Christie Hsiao is producing.
The book tells of a couple’s fractured life when the wife is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Claudia Ferri (The Killing) and Dana Ashbrook (Twin Peaks) are playing the couple. King will play a neurologist who tries to help the duo.
The part is the latest feature get for King, who saw her dramedy Bitch, which also starred Jason Ritter and Marianna Palka, premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The actress also wrapped shooting Escape Plan 2, in which she is the female lead opposite Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista.
After King shoots Ice Cream, she will segue to How to Cook Your Daughter, a drama based on a memoir by Jessica Hendra and Blake Morrison. The memoir tells of Hendra’s experience growing up as the daughter of a National Lampoon editor and suffering verbal and sexual abuse at his hands.
Another confirmed project for this year is ‘Escape Plan 2’, in which Jaime is set to play the female lead, Abigail Ross. The film will premiere in 2018.
EXCLUSIVE: The follow-up to 2013’s Sylvester Stallone-Arnold Schwarzenegger actioner Escape Plan is firming up its cast. Jaime King has signed to play a female lead, Abigail Ross, in prison-break sequel Escape Plan 2, and Power’s Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is reprising his role as Hush from the first film.
Sources also confirm to Deadline that ex-MMA fighter Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy films and upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, will co-star with Stallone in the ensemble sequel. Plot details are under wraps.
Steven C. Miller is directing Escape Plan 2, and Miles Chapman — who scripted the first film — is writing the script. It’s a U.S.-China co-production with Emmett/Furla/Oasis and China’s Leomus Pictures. Randall Emmett, George Furla, Mark Canton, Zack Schiller and Robbie Brenner are returning to produce. Ted Fox, Mark Stewart, Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb will executive produce along with the Fyzz Facility’s Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones.
The original film topped out at $25.1M domestic but made more than four times that figure overseas — nearly $41M from China alone — for a $112.2M worldwide take.
King starred on the CW’s Hart of Dixie for four seasons and most recently appeared in Bitch, which premiered at Sundance in January. Repped by Gersh, WME, Oren Segal and Myman Greenspan for legal, she next stars in the feature How to Cook Your Daughter.
Multiplatinum rapper Jackson co-stars in and exec produces the Starz drama Power and next co-stars in the feature Den of Thieves with Gerard Butler. He other recent acting credits include Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Southpaw and Spy. He is repped by APA and attorneys Eric Feig and Stephen J. Savva.
As you may know by now, Jaime is set to star in a film adaptation of How To Cook Your Daughter based on emotional abuse memoir by Jessica Hendry. Here’s the full report by Deadline.
EXCLUSIVE: Hart of Dixie alum Jaime King is set to topline How to Cook Your Daughter, a film adaptation based on a memoir by Jessica Hendra and Blake Morrison. Jennifer Clary is attached to direct, with production scheduled to begin in November.
The novel follows Hendra’s experience growing up as the daughter of a National Lampoon editor. While a disillusioned generation of Americans reveled in the smart, sometimes brilliant and always raucous humor of the Lampoon, Jessica withered away beneath the weight of her father’s verbal and sexual abuse. It’s a story of a young girl who found the courage as an adult to demand that her rights, and the rights of all abuse survivors, be taken seriously.
King, who is just off the Sundance debut of her film Bitch, recently held roles in Robert Rodriguez’ Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Barley Lethal. She is repped by Gersh, WME, Oren Segal and Myman Greenspan.
Clary’s directing credits include The Silent Thief and The Potters. She’s with Seven Summits Pictures & Management.
It looks like that Jaime will make a cameo appearance in the film Ocean’s Eight! Jaime posted a pic on her instagram account writing “8” and then a few pictures of her on the set of the movie were published (March 06). You can now find all the pics in our gallery. We can’t wait to see her!
As you may already know, Jaime’s new movie “Bitch” premiered at Sundance Film Festival yesterday. Here’s some info about the movie and the first pictures.
MarVista Entertainment and SpectreVision have set indie genre-blending drama Bitch, starring Hart Of Dixie‘s Jaime King and Jason Ritter (Parenthood), as the first film under their four-picture financing and co-production deal. Written, directed, and co-starring Marianna Palka (Good Dick), Bitch, which recently wrapped production, is a provocative tale of a woman (Palka) who snaps under crushing life pressures and assumes the psyche of a vicious dog. Her philandering, absentee husband (Ritter) is forced to become reacquainted with his four children and sister-in-law (King) as they attempt to keep the family together during this bizarre crisis.
